He's weighing in right around 13.5 lbs. He loves to be tickled, but hates to be thrown up in the air. He sleeps really well, I typically get a 5-7 hour stretch. He is constantly chewing on his fingers. He's beginning to be able to scoot by pushing up on his legs. He's just starting to reach for things and once he grabs them, he pulls them to his mouth. His babble is mostly coos, but I hear an occasional b or m sound in there. He is such an easy baby and we are so glad he joined our family! </p>

About a week and a
half ago we went down to Arizona to visit my family and attend my
high school reunion. The boys had a lot of fun. Ryan went on a
motorcycle ride with Grandpa. We played lots of games with Katrisa.
Wes had a “modified” nerf gun collection that the boys enjoyed,
and Grandma made us lots of yummy food. We brought Chloe down with
us, and she had fun playing with Wes's cat Zed. While she was out in
the backyard one time, one of the chickens got out and she scared the
chicken, which then hopped over the fence. It took us about 45
minutes to catch the silly thing and get it back into its coop.</div>

My reunion was kind
of lame. It was fun to see people, especially Candice and Meg. We
went the the BBQ on Saturday morning (which was really hot!) and the
dinner/dance that evening. After dinner it seemed like everyone just
wanted to hit the bar, so Candice, Meg, and I, along with our
significant others left early to go to Village Inn and get some pie.</div>

the boys and I did a bike ride (I pushed Tyler in the stroller) to
help raise money for a friend with a rare liver disease. We only
lasted a mile, but the boys had fun and took really good naps that
afternoon!</div>

Derek gets naked
whenever he gets the chance. I was feeding Tyler inside the house
while the boys were playing outside in the pool. Derek said he wanted
to come in so I told him to take off his swim trunks just inside the
door so he didn't drip all over the house. The next thing I know,
he's back outside running around in the buff. We'll have to break him
of that habit one of these days.</div>

The boys had a really good time with her and it was nice having an extra set of hands. One the boy's favorite things to do with her was making crafts. She ordered a couple of kits and together they got to make paper bag monsters, and cardboard tube sea creatures. Grandma also spent a lot of time reading to the boys. This was the first time that that she got to meet Tyler, and she was really good and making him smile and coo. It was really nice visit.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Clayton also celebrated his 32nd birthday this week. My mom left on his birthday, so we did most of the celebrating a day early. I made cannoli and a raspberry zinger cake. The morning of his birthday, I made biscuits and gravy, We got him a water filter that he can take hiking. That night we ended up in town because Tyler had a strong reaction to his shots earlier that day. While we were out we decided to stop at Firehouse Subs for dinner. We didn't get to crazy, but I hope it was a good birthday for Clayton.</div>

Clayton had Friday off of work so we took the boys and Chloe up to an off leash dog park in Evergreen. It's a really pretty spot up in the mountains. There are trails that meander through the trees like an easy hike/nature walk. This is our second time going to this location and we really enjoyed it! We came a little unprepared, though. On our way, we realized that we forgot Chloe's leash so we stopped at Walmart to pick one up. Then when we got to the Elk Meadow, we found that we'd also forgot the carrier for Tyler so we had to hike with him in our arms. It's a good thing he's not to heavy yet! There were only a few tears and one scraped knee, but overall a successful and enjoyable family outing.</div>

Yesterday was the Fourth of July. We kicked things off with our ward pancake breakfast. The boys and I went to the parade in Byers, while Clayton helped some friends load of their moving van. Those same friends came over for lunch, where we barbecued some brats and had homemade Butterfinger ice cream. After they left, we spent the rest of the day hanging out as a family. At dusk we lit off some fireworks and watched some lit off by others. The boys were a little tired this morning since they were up so late, but it was worth it!</div>

Ryan is getting so smart! During singing time today, I was teaching the song "Come Follow Me." He helped me read some of the words. It was a proud Mommy moment! He also left me a note on the door this week that said something like, "Mom, I left all of this mess for you to clean up." He has a book of puzzles, and all of the pieces ended up on the floor. I didn't appreciate the mess, but the note made me smile.</div>

Derek's favorite food lately has been 'cheesy dibbles.' The term comes from a movie he likes to watch. He refuses to call them 'cheetos' and insists that they are 'cheesy dibbles.' Another one of my favorite things Derek has been doing lately is calling chocolate milk 'hot chocolate milk.' I'll ask him if he wants it warmed up, and he tells me he wants "cold hot chocolate milk." It's really cute!</div>

Tyler turned 2 months old on Wednesday and had his doctor's appointment. He weighs 11lbs 4 oz, he's 22.5 inches long, and he's in the 40% for head circumference. We were pretty surprised since our kids typically have much smaller heads. He is starting to smile a lot more and is just starting to coo and make a squeaky kind of laugh. He has just recently discovered his hands and hits himself constantly in the face as he tries to look at them. </div>

Tyler FINALLY lost his umbilical cord. They say they typically fall off between 7-14 days. At his two week check up the doctor pulled and played with it and it came off the next day at 15 days old. Check out that cute belly button.</p>

At my last doctor's appointment, I wasn't dilated at all and baby was still sitting up high so it was decided that I would go into the hospital the night before instead. We were scheduled to come in Thursday evening at 10 PM on April 30, 2015. Clayton was just called to be a seminary teacher and had a training meeting down in Parker that same evening at 7, so I just went with him and we dropped the boys off a little early. My friend Krysten watched them for us, and they were pretty excited to have a sleepover with their friends.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Just before heading into the Parker Adventist Hospital, we stopped at Red Robin for a hamburger, a "last meal." I've been craving a really juicy hamburger this whole pregnancy and was finally able to get it! I don't think I've ever enjoyed a hamburger more than that one.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We then went to the hospital. It was raining pretty hard that evening so Clayton dropped me off at the front. Since it was past visiting hours, we had to go in through the ER entrance. He parked the car and we walked over to the maternity wing. They took us to room 302 and there we waited an hour before they were able to get things started. Apparently they were pretty busy. Around 11, they started taking my information and getting me hooked up to the monitors and put my IV in. I was given the Cytotec just before midnight, which is supposed to help me to start dilating. This time they were able to give it to me orally, which was a nice change from the other two times. My doctor also prescribed me some sleeping medicine, which I was happy to take. They came and checked me at 3:30 AM and I still hadn't progressed very far so they gave me another round of Cytotec. Almost instantly my contractions picked up. Not too long afterwards, I asked Clayton if it was too early to get my epidural. Clayton said that if I felt like I needed it, I should get it. Unfortunately one of the other ladies requested it just before me so I had to wait a little while before I could get it. When it was myu turn, the anesthesiologist gave me two options, one that would wear off after two hours (this was around 5:30 am) but would give me almost instant relief, or the typical epidural that takes some time to take effect and is a little more invasive. I opted for the traditional epidural because I thought there was no way I would have that baby in two hours. Both the nurse and the anesthesiologist said that I was doing a really good job breathing through the contractions, which made me feel good since I haven't had any sort of "natural birth training." Once I got the epidural I decided it was time to take a nap. I turned on some relaxing piano music and prepared myself to wait awhile. At 6:18 AM I was talking to Clayton and all of sudden I felt a 'pop' and my water broke. With the other two pregnancies, they broke my water for me, so this was the first time I had it break on its own. There was some meconium in the fluid, so that was bit of a concern, but they just made sure to have someone from the NICU when he came. Once again I got ready to try and take a nap, but shortly after my contractions really picked up, even with the epidural, and I started to feel some pressure. I called the nurses in just to check, I thought surely it wasn't time to have the baby yet! But Tyler was ready to come. My doctor came in and had to hold his head in while they got everything set up for the delivery, When they were ready, we waited for the next contraction, After two pushes, Tyler Wheeler Shaw entered the world at 7:18 AM on May 1, 2015 weighing 6lbs 9 oz. and 19.5 inches long. He had the cord wrapped around his neck three times and was a little blue when he first came out. He recovered quickly though and I was able to hold him right away. There were two other babies born within an hour of Tyler, so the staff was stretched pretty thin. It's okay though, because it meant that I got lots of skin to skin time with him.<br />

This was by far the easiest and fastest delivery. Originally my induction was scheduled for May 5, but I'm glad we moved it up with both the meconium and the cord wrapped around his neck. We were able to avoid a lot of problems!</div>

After a few hours, they moved us to room 308, where we spent the rest of the time. Clayton picked up the boys from Krysten's house later that afternoon and brought them to meet their little brother for the first time. They both have done so well and it's very apparent that they love Tyler.</div>

The recovery has been pretty smooth. I was able to come home the next day (Saturday) from the hospital. Since being home we are beginning to adjust. The first two nights, Tyler didn't sleep very well during the night. I think he had his nights and days mixed up. On night three and for the rest of the first week, he only woke up once a night! It was really nice to get some decent sleep. Now that the sleepiness has worn off, he wakes up 2-3 times a night. He's gaining weight like a champ, too. He dropped down to 6 lbs 4 oz, but at his two week check up he was up to 7 lbs 2.5 oz.<br />

<div>
The Monday after Tyler was born, Clayton's mom came out to help. It was a huge help having her here. She took really good care of me. She cooked all the meals, made sure I took a nap every day, watched the two younger ones as I picked Ryan up from preschool, and was an extra set of hands whenever I needed it. We were really sad to see her leave on Friday. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Since then we are starting to settle into a routine. There are moments when I have felt like a horrible mom because I've lost my temper with Ryan and Derek. It's hard to find the balance of spending time with them and meeting the needs of Tyler. It helps to remember that this is only temporary and it is really a crazy time. But we are so happy to have Tyler here. He is already such an essential part of the family. We love him so much and are so glad that he is finally here!</div>

Everything went really smoothly. I will post the birth story later. Today I'm sitting here, nursing this sweet little boy. I just wanted to write down a few of my thoughts.</p>
<p dir="ltr">I had forgotten how hard this really is. The first two days were really smooth and I felt really good. I am so in love with this little boy, but now the sleep deprivation is setting in. I came home from the hospital yesterday afternoon and real life began. I have two other little boys that need their mom. It's a bit overwhelming trying to balance it all. Derek especially is struggling. My milk is starting to come in and my breasts are tender. Despite the smooth delivery, there is still a healing process that must occur. I know that things will get easier, but it's really hard right now. </p>
<p dir="ltr">Because I've been through this two times before, I know that things will get easier and that this will all be worth it. The boys are at church and I am home alone with Tyler. It's been nice to have a little quiet time. I need to remember to take things easy, to cut myself some slack. Nobody expects me to have a perfect house this week or in the weeks to follow. There will be tears , there will be sleepless nights, and there will be plenty of physical pain to deal with. But I can get through this. I need to look for the good each day and remember how much we love this little boy. <u>W</u>e worked so hard to get him here. The momentary pain and discomfort will all be worth it because he's part of our eternal family.</p>

<br />
"Please bless us all to die...So we can be resurrected liked Jesus."<br />

Let's just hope he gets a delayed answer to that prayer.</div>

We had a really nice Easter weekend, with one exception. Poor little Derek had croup and we had to take him into the the doctor on Saturday morning. I had spent the last 3 nights sleeping on an air mattress with him and his cough didn't seem to be getting any better. Over the last couple of days, his temperature had been sitting somewhere between 103 and 105. He was miserable and didn't seem to be getting any better so we decided it was time to take him in. The doctor was able to give him some steroids and within an hour or two there was a dramatic improvement. Thankfully, he was able to enjoy the weekend festivities a little bit more.</div>

On Saturday, the boys had fun decorating Easter eggs. When I got to the store, all they had left were the Jumbo sized eggs, so the plastic wraps that came with the egg dying kit did not fit. It was still a lot of fun and the boys made some beautiful Easter eggs.</div>

General Conference weekend also fell on Easter weekend this year so we got to spend most of the weekend listening the the inspired messages of the leaders of our church. It really helped to keep the focus on Christ.</div>

We ended the day with a nice Easter dinner and a lesson about the true meaning of Easter. I think Ryan is getting old enough that he can start to comprehend the significance of the Resurrection. I am so grateful for my Savior and his sacrifice for me. I know that he lives and that he loves us. Because of his sacrifice, I can be with my family forever and nothing brings more joy to me than that knowledge.</div>

This afternoon we got to the hotel and Ryan told me he remembered coming here with Grandpa. We've never been to the hotel before... Lately Ryan has been making up stories full of made-up details. As we were walking down the hallway to our room Ryan was filling us in on all the details of his "trip" here with Grandpa. I want to encourage his imagination, but I don't want him making up stories so I gently reminded him that we hadn't been here before. He said "I know. I came here with my made-up Grandpa." I asked him what his name was and his response had Clayton and I laughing for a few minutes. "Grandpa Puke."</p>

Since we'd never taken either of the boys camping before, I was a little nervous. My worries were unfounded, though, because they did great!<br />
<br />
We camped near Devil's Head Lookout. The area was familiar to us since we'd been hiking there before, but never camping. Growing up, Clayton and I had very different camping experiences. My family would always go to a paid camp site where there were always toilets, typically flushing, and sometimes even showers. The downside is that you were right on top of all the other campers. Clayton was used to going in the middle of no where with no "luxuries." If you saw anyone else while camping, you were too close. Devil's Head was a good compromise. There were other campers, but they were far enough away that you rarely saw or heard them. There weren't any outhouses, so all <i>business </i>was done in an obscured section of wood (which got old really quick!). Another downside was there was no water sources, and we were running low on water by the end of the trip.<br />
<br />

<br />
We set up camp Friday evening and shared a very rustic dinner of Little Ceasar's pizza that we picked up on the way. Our friend Amy, was celebrating her birthday that day, so we a put candle in a Little Debbie's cupcake and sang her "Happy Birthday." Surrounding the campsite were some boulders. Amy and I climbed to the top of one that was about 50 feet tall. The view was beautiful as we looked over the surrounding mountains. That night, the boys slept surprisingly well. Derek woke up once but quickly fell back to sleep once I pulled him into bed with me.<br />
<br />
Saturday morning began with a leisurely pancake breakfast. Afterwards, we cleaned up, and went to hike Devil's Head. Conveniently, the trail head was only about a 10 minute drive from our campsite. Clayton and I were expecting to have to piggyback Derek up the entire way, but he was insistent that he wanted to walk. Because of this, we had to take the climb pretty slowly. However, we didn't get very tired because of our slow pace. Both of the boys hiked the entire way up, the mountain, which is about 1.5 miles. Pretty impressive of our two-and-four-year-olds! Along the way, they had fun climbing some of the different rock formations. Once you get to the top, there is a 140 step stair case that leads to the lookout. The look out is a small room with a wrap around porch that allows you to look in every direction. You can see 13 or 14 mountains from the lookout. Once we climbed back down the stairs, we had a snack and then headed down the mountain, this time Derek riding on Daddy's shoulders. It took less that 10 minutes for him to fall asleep. Clayton chivalrously carried him down the entire way, as well as the backpack that contained our snacks and water from the trip. I held Ryan's hand and he made it all the way back down.<br />

<br />
That afternoon we hung around the campsite. I helped Amy gather some pine cones for a Fall wreath we will make sometime. Clayton brought his BB gun and the boys had a lot of fun shooting at pop cans and water bottles. Towards the end of shooting, it started to rain so we all retreated to our tents to hideout until it passed. During the hour we were inside, we tried to take a nap, but Derek's nap down the mountain gave him plenty of energy and he bounced around the entire time interrupting each or our naps. Finally the rain passed and we went out to play a game of Bocce balls.<br />

<br />
<br />
<div>
Dinner was quite the ordeal. We had planned to do shish-ka-bobs but we had a hard time cooking them over the fire. It took a long time, and a lot of kneeling in the dirt, holding them over the fire, nearly burning our hands to cook everything. We finally finished cooking and eating dinner just in time for another wave of rain. We rushed through s'more making, and once again took cover in the tent. By this time is was bed time for the boys, so I got their pajamas on and laid down with them. I had every intention of going back out after they fell asleep, but I fell asleep, too. Our friends did the same thing, which left Clayton outside with the fire all by himself.</div>
<br />
<br />
Sunday morning we woke up, ate a quick bowl of cereal and packed up camp. We had intended to stay until after lunch, but everyone was ready to go.<br />
<br />
Initially I was really nervous to take the boy's camping. I was worried that they wouldn't sleep well and would get hurt, but I was pleasantly surprised. Minus a scraped elbow and a bump on the head by Derek, the boys had a really good time. We had a lot of fun and it reminded me of how grateful I am to have simple things, like a flushing toilet and a microwave. Still, it was a great weekend and Clayton and I are already getting excited for the next chance we have to take our family camping.<br />

I wasn't sure how he was going to do, since he has a tendency to get really shy, but he loved it. He loved sitting in the special chair and all the attention. He has one cavity that needs to be filled, and I don't know if he will like the dentist nearly as much after he gets the filling.</p>

It was a lot of fun. There wasn't any shortage of sprinkles, or sugar. It was a beautiful spring day and we spent some time outside afterwards, followed by a potluck lunch. So much fun!</p>

We went to Monkey Bizness with some good friends. I had never been before, and we had a blast! The boys absolutely loved it. It's an indoor playground. We stayed a lot longer than I expected, but it was the perfect way to spend the day. Derek crawled everywhere, and I even took him down the inflatable slide. Ryan climbed everything there was to climb, and ran around until he was red in the face. The boys had a really good time and it was really nice to get out of the house and spend time with friends.</p>

He's actually not too bad either. He is really good at scribbling back and forth. But sometimes eating the pen is just too hard to resist.</p>

The first one is a backhoe, the second one is a car. I was pretty impressed, especially since I didn't give him any tips or advice. He drew these all on his own. He is growing up so fast!</p>

After a long hiatus from blogging, I am happy to say that I am back! Isn't it ironic that major life changes keep us too busy for blogging, when those are things we should be writing about most? Anyways...I wanted to start by dedicating this post to my favorite 3 year old.</div>

Since Derek has been born (almost 8 months ago!), Ryan has kind of gotten the lost in the craziness of everything. I try to give him the attention he needs, but he's so independent and capable of doing so many things on his own that I take him for granted A LOT. It's really too bad because he is doing and saying the funniest things.<br />
<br />

Ryan LOVES to play doctor. At least once a day we pretend that we are sick. We first have to get the imaginary ambulance parked by the front door of our living room. Then I pick him up and we go to the "hospital" which is usually on the couch or on mine and Clayton's bed. We start with a check up. This includes checking the heart beat by placing the imaginary stethoscope in his ears, then listening to the the heart (sound effects included). We then check eyes, ears, nose and mouth. It's amazing the things we find sometimes. There might be grasshoppers or an elephant or even chocolate cake in our ears. Typically we find a broken bone during the assessment and have to wrap it up, usually with a belt or blanket. Once the patient has rested, we unwrap the affected limb and do some stretches (this must be Clayton's influence). Once the patient is given the all clear, we start again. <br />
<br />

This kid has an AMAZING imagination. He has so many imaginary friends that I can't keep track of all of them. Just the other night <i>Sophia </i>and <i>Frannie </i>came over to play. He had to open the door to let them in. He usually speaks both sides of the conversation, which is hilarious. When it was time for bed, <i>Sophia </i>and <i>Frannie </i>"slept" in the office. Ryan woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. As I was tucking him into bed, he told me that his friends had gone home. Even in a half awake state, he manages to remember his imaginary friends. Perhaps we need to play with REAL friends more...<br />
<br />
Ryan can be pretty shy in unfamiliar situations, but at home, he is quite the performer. He love to make up songs. If we are putting on his socks, he sings a song about socks. If we are playing with cars, he makes up a little song about cars.<br />
<br />
One of my favorite things about Ryan is how sweet he is. He is very aware of what we are doing, and always asks us about it. He often asks "How was your day?" or "How did you sleep?" He is always very concerned when someone is sad, even if it's someone on TV. Ryan is my tender hearted little boy. <br />
<br />
Derek absolutely LOVES Ryan. Ryan is usually the last one up in the morning. When Ryan walks down the stairs, Derek gets a huge grin on his face. He will crawl over to see him, or squirm out of our arms, if we are holding him. Ryan can also get Derek laughing better than anyone. I hope their friendship only gets closer as they grow up. <br />

Clayton and I were both distracted, playing on the computer. I noticed that Ryan was being really quiet, which is never a good sign. I thought I should go check on him. This is how I found him:</div><div class="MsoNormal"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigU9sdf9aAx4N6B2GdMF74iXDNjhVOMhmOyo4UBYMHMAUJSUAl3mKyUMx-e92Z2kEvgaX-6w7UNmg8nIAZbKSPbHuXRgkqQ5bf9NuhjPwzJdyrVsMvmwAzDIlSMBi6WgS2jqFweICIOxg/s1600/024.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigU9sdf9aAx4N6B2GdMF74iXDNjhVOMhmOyo4UBYMHMAUJSUAl3mKyUMx-e92Z2kEvgaX-6w7UNmg8nIAZbKSPbHuXRgkqQ5bf9NuhjPwzJdyrVsMvmwAzDIlSMBi6WgS2jqFweICIOxg/s400/024.JPG" width="285" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>I am still not sure HOW he got up on the counter. He had pushed his stool up to the sink, but that still put the counter at armpit level for him. He must have muscled his way up there, but hasn’t been able to do it since. He was having a grand ol’ time playing up there, though. <br />
<br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">A little bit later, we were saying his prayers. He’s starting to catch on to the idea and will, mumbling, repeat something sounding remotely like we are saying. So last night we were thanking Heavenly Father and asking him for things. Clayton was helping him, and said, “Help me to be a good boy.” Instead of copying him, Ryan responded with a resounding “Noooooooo.” We had to pause mid-prayer to keep our giggles under control. It was pretty funny. Sometimes it is so easy to love this little boy.</div>Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10754903709752128224noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-404784174928071922.post-5467132118582733352011-05-17T06:32:00.000-06:002011-05-17T06:32:06.302-06:00Apple DumplingsSo, I hope you are ready for another tasty recipe. I made these the other day, only I cut the recipe in half, but I was wishing that I made more. Hopefully you like them, too!<br />
<br />
Apple Dumplings<br />
<br />
2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored<br />
2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough<br />
1/2 cup butter<br />
3/4 cups white sugar<br />
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon<br />
1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle soda (We have used both Mt. Dew and Cream soda)<br />
<br />
<span class="plaincharacterwrap break"> Preheat the oven to 350 degrees . Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. </span><span class="plaincharacterwrap break">Cut each apple into 8 wedges and set aside. Separate the crescent roll dough into triangles. Roll each apple wedge in crescent roll dough starting at the smallest end. Pinch to seal and place in the baking dish. </span><span class="plaincharacterwrap break">Melt butter in a small saucepan and stir in the sugar and cinnamon. Pour over the apple dumplings. Pour soda over the dumplings. </span><span class="plaincharacterwrap break">Cover with tin foil. Bake for 30-35 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove tin foil and continue to bake until golden brown, about 5-10 minutes. Remove from oven and let sit for 5 minutes. Then put tin foil back on and carefully flip the pan over to let the juices coat both sides. Flip back over and serve with vanilla ice cream.</span>Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10754903709752128224noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-404784174928071922.post-75216404108535247122011-05-13T15:49:00.001-06:002011-05-13T15:50:27.730-06:00Cake PopsI don't mean to brag, but I have a wonderful husband. I know this is a little late, but I had a wonderful Mother's Day. Clayton made french toast for me in the morning, complete with sliced strawberries and bananas. He made a tasty dinner of pork tenderloin, and for dessert he made cake pops. We had a originally agreed not to buy presents for each other for Mother's or Father's day since we just recently bought a car, but he broke the rules and surprised me with a gift certificate to Massage Envy.<br />
<br />
Everything was wonderful, but I thought I would share the recipe for the delicious cake pops that he made:)<br />
<br />
Ingredients:<br />
1 cake mix, prepared<br />
8 oz. box of cream cheese<br />
12 oz. Chocolate chips<br />
1 tsp. Oil <br />
Popsicle sticks<br />
<br />
So you have to bake the cake first. Let it cool. Then combine the cake and the cream cheese and mush it all together. Roll into balls, stick the popsicle sticks in, like a lollipop, and place in the refrigerator for an hour or so. <br />
<br />
Place chocolate chips and oil into a microwave safe bowl, and slowly melt the chocolate, stirring occasionally. Be sure not to burn the chocolate. Once the chocolate is melted, dip the balls into the chocolate and place on some wax paper. You SHOULD allow the chocolate to set up before eating, but it's okay to sneak one before that:) Sorry I don't have any pictures. Hope you enjoy!Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10754903709752128224noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-404784174928071922.post-65454169020047055452011-04-27T11:17:00.001-06:002011-07-15T10:32:59.427-06:00Strawberry Sparkles<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We did an easy, yummy craft today that I thought I would share. I got the idea from <a href="http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/strawberry-sparkles-686824/">FamilyFun.com</a>. This is one of my new favorite websites, by the way. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KFE_RGVv6Ow/TbhPF83TgII/AAAAAAAAASo/5VwPIzWZYhs/s1600/009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KFE_RGVv6Ow/TbhPF83TgII/AAAAAAAAASo/5VwPIzWZYhs/s320/009.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Their website calls for a cream cheese mixed with a little powder sugar, vanilla, and milk but my cream cheese was still too cold to mix well, so I borrowed an idea from my good friend. Her favorite way to eat strawberries is with sour cream and brown sugar. So I used sour cream instead and it worked just fine. Then we dipped in colored sugar. I bought the blue and yellow from the store and tried making the pink with sugar and food coloring. It worked pretty well, but dissolved really quickly. </div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xzhFQJ197CU/TbhPHOPVYbI/AAAAAAAAASs/5xoFtzwAWQI/s1600/011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xzhFQJ197CU/TbhPHOPVYbI/AAAAAAAAASs/5xoFtzwAWQI/s320/011.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> Here is Ryan enjoying his strawberries once we were all done:</div><br />

I think that his immune system was already worn down a little from his last cold, so when this nasty virus came along, he didn't stand a chance. This is the sickest that I have ever seen him. His fever got up to 103. He's had a runny nose, a slight cough, and had thrown up a couple of times. Poor guy. I hope he feels better soon!Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10754903709752128224noreply@blogger.com4
